Description:
SSURA is one of the 12 partners implementing the LEAD project in Uganda, the sub-project title is THRIVE,
which aims to enhance food security, promote economic development create
decent jobs for youth and women, as well as improve livelihoods for 300 refugees
and host communities in Uganda (Yumbe district – BidiBidi Refugee settlement).
The project focuses on building the agricultural capacity of vulnerable groups, including women and youth, and persons with disabilities, through training on climate-smart agricultural practices, provision of quality
inputs and value addition techniques, and provision of economic empowerment.
The goal of
this project is to bolster sustainable agriculture practices in rural regions
of Uganda. The emphasis will be on the utilization of organic farming, crop
diversification, conservation agriculture, financial and entrepreneurship inclusion, Gender equitable practices, improved
water management practices to boost agricultural productivity, improve food
security, enhance farmers’ resilience to climate change, and ultimately drive
socio-economic growth in these communities.
